Born: December 20, 1955 in Decatur, IN.
High School: Graduated from West Lyon High School, Inwood, Iowa, 1974.
College: Graduated from University of Nebraska-Lincoln, 1978.

Schnepf joined the Wahpeton Daily News in January 1979. He remained there until moving to Fargo to join the sports staff of The Forum in August 1987. With the exception of two years when he worked on the Forum’s news staff, Schnepf remained on the Forum sports staff until he retired in December 2020. He was sports editor at The Forum for several years. Schnepf won two national wrlting awards while at the Forum. After retiring, Schnepf began working as a referee at high school basketball games.
